The Metal Finishing Technician is responsible for grinding, polishing, and preparing metal components to meet high-quality and visual appearance standards. This role ensures that all parts are free of defects, properly finished, and ready for assembly or shipment. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, dependable, and committed to consistent workmanship in a production environment.
Metal Finishing & Polishing
- Grind, sand, clean, and polish metal parts to remove burrs, sharp edges, and surface defects.
- Operate tools such as belt sanders, hand grinders, polishers, and deburring equipment.
- Apply finishing techniques to meet specified surface texture and appearance requirements.
Quality
- Inspect finished parts for conformance to workmanship and quality standards.
- Communicate surface finish concerns or part issues to team leads or managers.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to resolve finishing challenges.
Safety & Workplace Organization
- Follow all company safety guidelines and PPE requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Perform routine checks and basic care of finishing equipment and tools.
Required
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Fine motor skills and manual dexterity for precision finishing tasks.
Preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or job shop environment.
- Familiarity with metal polishing, grinding, and deburring techniques.
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and reliability.
- Willingness to learn; training available for the right candidate.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks with precision.
- Manual dexterity and fine motor skills for detailed finishing work.
- Capability to lift and handle materials up to 40 lbs.
- Standing for extended periods and working with hand tools and power equipment.
